Electronics expert
Cyro Mancio, 28, ELECTRONICS ENGINEER,
SEMCON AUTOMOTIVE R&D, BRAZIL

To equip its new Constellation trucks with realtime
solutions for safety, telemetry, tracking
and monitoring Volkswagen turned to Semcon’s
electronics experts. Over the past two years Cyro
Mancio has been part of a group of consultants
at Semcon working at VW Trucks & Buses’ plant
in Brazil.
“The new functions require new, creative
electronics solutions. Part of our assignment has
included working with hardware for connecting
all these functions.”
VW’s Volksnet system is based on the latest
technology, meaning that fleet managers can
get lots of information in real time, including the
vehicles’ location, fuel consumption and speed
or information such as sudden braking and even
poor driving.
“We have been forced to provide better solutions
of high quality at lower cost and with
shorter lead times. This is creative and interesting
work with new challenges every day and it’s
never boring.”
Constellation trucks with the Volksnet tracking
system will be launched in March 2009. Cyro
Mancio and his colleagues are sure they’ll succeed
with their assignment.
“Everyone’s pleased with our work so far. We’ve
been very efficient and should have everything in
place on time.”
